More poolees are getting closer to graduation day. So it's time to train extra hard to be able to make boot camp not as difficult than without any training. We went to the lake and ran a couple laps in a group. We did ammo lifts and we had to do 100 again. We did our push-ups and pull-ups. My goal is to reach up to 20 pull-ups to be able to earn the Marine corps shirt. We went to the office and watched more videos on boot camp. After we ended the day with the flag practice and how it should look.

I kept my training and motivation to still join the Marines. I went to the office and volunteered to help other poolees how to operate the flag. I help the other poolees study for the ASVAP. I go to the gym with some poolees and assist them while they workout. I still train hard and run everyday to get better. I look forward to my birthday to finally turn 18 and then I'll be able to get my boot camp date. Until then I learn about the Marines as often as I come to the office and help out the poolees that are preparing.

My marine recruiter picked me up and we went to his office. We were discussing on my documents that I need in order to join. I was missing one document and it was my father's and mother's divorce papers. I received bad news and when I asked my mother about the papers she said she lost them. My recruiter also tried to search for the only document I needed to join the marines and he couldn't locate them neither. So it came to the conclusion that I would not be able to join the marines and go to boot camp until I turn the age of 18. I met all the qualifications at MEPS and passed the ASVAP. I had everything I needed to go to boot camp except for my parents divorce papers....

I came to the office help out more with the poolees and there training because I was ahead of them. I showed them how to workout and what's the correct way to lift objects. I was shown some things by my recruiter about some military workouts. After we ended the workout with a run around the lake nearby. We have to run and make the passing time and I was a minute faster than the last time I went on the run. We went back to the office and we watched a video on the marines. It was about the different jobs that is available and marines professions. I picked my job and I'm going to join infantry.

I came to see my recruiter to keep up with my training before I go to boot camp. We had a full day of training doing sit-ups, push-ups, and went on a run at golden gate beach. I was also taught how to lift a ammo canister above my head for multiple times. They wanted the canister lifted 100 times over you head within a certain time to pass. It was a shoulder workout and it weighed 30 pounds. I passed the challenge and moved on to pull-ups I wanted to do to earn the Marine corps shirt. I got up to 17 pull-ups so I wasn't able to receive the shirt until I got to 20 reps of the pull-ups. The ammo canisters were carried back to the government vehicles by all the poolees.

I went into the San Francisco office to see my recruiter and we went to go on a run around a lake where I was timed. I ran around the lake and made a time of 26 mins which was good. He took me to the gym to workout and I hit some chest and triceps for strength. After the gym he took me to the office to give me training on being the correct way on holding the flag and to never lets it touch the floor. After I learned the right position and postures I volunteered to perform it for other poolees. I also helped other poolees study for the ASVAP since I passed it and got a passing score of 40. I continued to help others with their studying.

A test that we must pass in order to get to boot camp was to make a decent amount of push-ups or pull-ups. The push-ups I got to my max was 50 and for pull-ups I got to 16 doin the wide grip posture. There is a shirt that can be earned if you reach 20 pull-ups. I was given information about boot camp and how the experience is going to be. There is a schedule that is applied for the three months that every poolee has to go through. The crucible is a final test in boot camp where each recruit has to work together in order to complete. Boot camp is not meant for people to fail but some poolees do not meet the requirements. At the end of all that trading there is your graduation where family and friends see the poolees transform into Marines.

We continued the process and we went into a room where there were paper they need to be signed and filled out to full knowledge about our health. It included questions about physical abilities and injurys that we had throughout life. We signed papers of we were willing to take a drug test and a checkup from the doctor. I signed the papers required to continue the process. They took us to the drug test and I just had to give them my urine sample. After they sat me down and the doctor took a blood sample of mine. The next step was a little of physical ability to see if we have a problem doin exercise so we went through some stretches and actions we mimicked from a navy soldier. A couple things we did was run on our knees and walk on our heels.

I was waiting patiently as the other poolees were getting there eyes checked for there vision. I eventually got to get my turn for the visual check and I had to read aloud letters from the minuscule row I could see. A man observed while I was taking the test and he recorded that I have 20/20 vision. The next step I conducted with the physical is taking a hearing test. I went into a room where it was completely silent. I was told to put a pair of headphones on and the hearing test began. The directions I was told to do press the button every time I hear a sound and those noises where really quiet. I completed the hearing test and I got a perfect score.
